Setting Up An iiNet Belkin Router
Should the provided software CD fail, the iiNet Belkin modems can be set up manually with a minimum of fuss. All you need is your computer with a web browser, and for your modem to be powered on and connected to your computer by cable.
Broadband setup
All iiNet Belkin modems can be accessed by opening your internet browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Safari, Mozilla Firefox) and typing the address http://10.1.1.1/ into the address bar near the top of the screen. If the modem is at least communicating with your computer, you should see the following screen:
The default password is admin - type it in and click "Login" to continue.
Enter the following information:
- Username: Your full iiNet username (e.g. john.citizen@iinet.net.au, john.citizen@ozemail.com.au)
- Password: Your iiNet password
Click "Save Settings". This will restart your modem after committing the settings to the modem's flash memory.
Once you've saved the settings, check the lights on the modem. If it's set up correctly, the "ADSL" and "Online" lights should go solid after a few minutes at the most, and you'll then be able to browse the web and check your email.
If the lights don't as described above, you may need to troubleshoot your connection.
VoIP setup
If you have a VoIP account (and we hope you do), there's extra information to put in.
Once the modem has restarted, go back to http://10.1.1.1/ and log in again as before. Scroll down to the "VoIP Parameter Settings". Put a tick into the box labelled "VoIP Account 1". This will make a few extra boxes appear:
- VoIP phone number: Your VoIP phone number as supplied by iiNet, without spaces or brackets or dashes
- VoIP password: As supplied by iiNet. Your VoIP and broadband passwords will be different.
- State: Select which state or territory you live in from the dropdown menu
Click "Save Settings". This will restart the modem after committing the settings to the modem's flash memory.
If everything's been successful, the "ADSL", "Online" and "VoIP" lights will be lit and solid after a few minutes at the most, and you'll be able to take and make calls on VoIP as well as browse the Internet.
Wireless setup:
